Reading Is Fundamental, Inc.
Reading Is Fundamental prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most. This lively and interactive site has games for kids and tools for parents to encourage reading.

Founded by Elaine Smith, author of Sister Sally, Soar Publishers is committed to helping writers become successful authors.

Black Books Galore!
Black Books Galore! was founded in 1992 by three African American mothers, who, as the result of their challenges in finding quality books reflecting positive images for their children, dedicated themselves to identifying and distributing great African American children's books.

Book Hive
BookHive is a web site designed for children ages birth through twelve, their parents, teachers or anyone interested in reading about children's books. Providing reader's advisory service, this site contains hundreds of recommended book reviews in a variety of reading levels and interest areas. Parents may find special "parental notes" attached to some reviews that provide additional information about the book.

Oprah’s Book Club
Credited with bringing back the joy of reading to America’s consciousness, Oprah’s Book Club is an eclectic mix of Oprah’s favorite tomes. Some are classics, some from first time authors. No matter what your reading taste, you are sure to find a new favorite among her favorites.

American Library Association
The American Library Association is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with more than 65,000 members. Its mission is to promote the highest quality library and information services and public access to information.

New York Times: Books section
In publication since 1942, the New York Times Bestseller Lists are considered the preeminent lists of best selling books in the United States. The Lists, as well as book reviews, podcasts and book discussions are available on the Book section.

Miami-Dade School Board
This site provides valuable information for parents and students enrolled in Miami-Dade Schools. Parents can meet the Superintendent and meet School Board members, view the Academic and Testing Calendars, and find lots of resources to become involved in your child’s education. Students can create their own Student Portal where they can see their class schedule, grades and access E-Textbooks.

FCAT Explorer Parent and Family Guide
The Parent and Family Guide includes details about each of the practice programs available in reading and math. In addition, you will find a list of links to Florida Department of Education resources to help you understand the FCAT, the Sunshine State Standards, and your role in preparing your child for success. These materials are available in Spanish and Haitian Creole as well.
