Welcome to Ms. Permello’s Reading Room, home of the Center of Knowledge and Learning, Inc. ("CKL").  The Center provides a variety of programs and services for students and lifelong learners of all ages.

Our most popular programs include:
* College Trakker:
This program is for students from the 7th grade to graduate school.

The purpose of the program is to help parents and students get on the right track to college. CKL believes that it is critical to broaden a child's view about higher education as early as 7th grade in order to avoid the pitfalls of waiting until 11th grade to consider becoming actively involved in preparing for college. The College Trakker program consists of participating in practice ACT/SAT tests, attending college fairs, touring college and university campuses and examining test preparation options for the PSAT, ACT and SAT. The College Trakker Program also assist students and their parents find and examine summer programs throughout the country and abroad. Weekend FCAT tutoring for 2nd and 3rd graders After School Tutoring and Homework Help.

CKL provides after-school tutoring and homework help for children and parents.

Because parental involvement is a key factor in the workings of the Reading Room, parents and/or guardians must be prepared to play an integral role in their child's participation in any programs that are offered.

Other programs:
* "An Afternoon With..." provides an opportunity for authors to meet and discuss their works. More intimate than a book-signing, "An Afternoon With..."allows the author to have a close conversation with the reader.

The Reading Room serves as a hub of activity for the South Florida community.  In addition to the programs listed above:

Seniors can stop by to enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up on the latest news from our extensive collection of newspapers.
Little ones can enjoy hearing their favorite stories read to them in the Reading Circle.
Local Bookclubs are welcomed to come to meet to discuss their favorite tomes.

Ms. Permello's Reading Room has built an extensive collection of over 2,000 books, all donated by caring community members like yourself. We gladly and gratefully accept gently used books.

Everyone is welcome in the Reading Room, but young readers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
